Prof. Dr.-Ing. Karsten Moritz, Managing Director
is a structural engineer and architect with more than 30 years of professional experience in the design, planning, analysis and assessment of demanding construction products and building methods for building envelopes. His work has been shaped in particular by serial energy-efficient refurbishment projects and industrially prefabricated façade and roof systems.
Having established and led engineering and R&D departments in international construction and technology companies for many years, his focus is firmly on the practical feasibility and commercial viability of his developments. Together with his interdisciplinary teams, he has guided numerous innovative products from the initial idea through patenting and technical approval to market-ready, scalable series production. For him, sustainability and quality are non-negotiable criteria against which every new product or building method must be measured.
Through the establishment and management of a materials testing laboratory, and as a member of the DIN mirror committee for the Eurocode on membrane structures, he is highly familiar with guidelines and standards, materials testing, testing strategies, and approval and certification processes. His many years of responsibility for patent and trademark matters further complement his broad industrial experience.
Alongside his work in industry, he is Honorary Professor of Membrane Structures and Materials at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. His academic contributions include lectures and seminars in the international postgraduate Master’s programme in Membrane Structures at this University, teaching structural design and lightweight surface structures for master students of architecture at the Technical University of Munich, and lectures in specilaist engineers training programms at the IMS BAUHAUS Archineer Institutes e.V. in Dessau.
He is a member of the Lower Saxony Chamber of Engineers authorised to submit building applications, a registered architect with the Bavarian Chamber of Architects, and a recognised expert for structural engineering, lightweight structures and membrane structures appointed by the Chamber of Engineers of Saxony-Anhalt. As such, he stands for independent and sound technical expertise, as well as for solutions that are not only innovative, but also commercially viable, practical and ready for implementation.
Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Florian Weininger, Authorised Signatory
studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Munich. In 2007, together with partners, he founded LEICHT Structural Engineering and Specialist Consulting GmbH, with offices in Rosenheim and Munich. Through numerous high-profile projects in façade engineering and building envelopes, a partnership with BPL Enclosure Engineering in Atlanta was established, enabling LEICHT to develop a strong international presence. His professional profile combines excellent structural engineering with comprehensive expertise at the interface between architecture and engineering. His work covers complex load-bearing structures, conventional and unconventional façade systems, as well as highly specialised membrane and foil applications.
In addition to his engineering and entrepreneurial activities, he was appointed Professor of Building Construction and Structural Design at OTH Regensburg in 2019. His academic profile, however, extends far beyond conventional teaching. It includes interdisciplinary study formats that combine design, fabrication and digital construction. His teaching-format “Design to Fabrication”, his “CyberCraft activities” and the “Building Lab” demonstrate his close connection to the construction process, robotics and digital workflows. As university representative of the Bavarian Chamber of Civil Engineers at OTH Regensburg, he also connects professional practice and academic teaching in a particularly effective way.
